VPS Technology
To run our VPS nodes we have chosen Virtuozzo from SW-Soft. We tested several virtualisation products and found Virtuozzo to be the best all rounder
in terms of performance and functionality. In fact, it left other products standing.
Virtuozzo is unique in that it is a single kernel running on the server which isolates processes from one VE to another thus sharing the Memory and CPU resources
effectively.
Each VE is completely secure from another VE. It is not possible for one VE owner to break out of their VPS and attempt to break into another as isolation
happens at the kernel level.
Virtuozzo's architecture performs at levels very similar to the hardware node. So basically there are no virtual hardware drivers etc as Virtuozzo uses the hardware on
the node between VE's and the native drivers associated. And because there is no virtual hard disks for VE's it has very good performance for high IO applications like
database servers.
Virtuozzo also provides the end user with a wealth of management tools. Through the
Virtuozzo Power Panel it is possible to reboot the VPS - stop it or start it.
It is also possible to re-install the VPS (Linux VPS's only) and view resource usage and service alerts.
