This tutorial will show you how to build your site using the Wizard in SiteBuilder.

To get started - there are only five steps to creating and publishing your website with SiteBuilder. This tutorial will cover those five steps.

  1. STEP 1 - When you first enter the SiteBuilder wizard, it will ask you to choose between three types of website.

    • Create Your Site
    • Create Your Blog
    • Create Your Photogallery

Choose the option closest to your requirements. A helpful description is available under each option. For the purpose of this tutorial we will choose the "Create your site" option.

  2. Click "Next"

  3. STEP 2 - Now you can choose a design - we have hundreds of designs available for you to choose all organised by category.
Note - that the current design selected will be highlighted by a red border. Clicking "Preview" in this border will allow you to get a better view of that design.

You can also select a colour scheme on the right hand side. Most templates also have several options for the site banner. You will see a drop down selection below the Colour picker - or you can even upload your own!

You will also be able to choose from different menu styles below the banner section.

And you can choose to upload a different logo for the site. The logo should have a transparent background and the width should be 75px and the height 47px. This is optional.

Now finally, create the site info. Set a TITLE, SubTITLE and a footer message to appear across the pages.

  4. Click "Next"

  5. STEP 3 - So now you can select the type of site you are creating. This will load a default set of pages based upon the type of site you select.

So if you select "Business" then SiteBuilder will load the standart paged which typically appear in a business web site. However, you can then modify the pages to suit the style of site further.

You will see a section called "Standard Pages" and a section called "Your Site Structure". The live site will include all pages in the "Your Site Structure" section. So the idea is that you highlight the pages you would like from the "Standard Pages" section and then click the button labled ">" to populate the "Your Site Structure" section.

Use the "Up" and "Down" buttons on selected pages to change the order they appear in the navigation bar.

There is also a section called "Special Pages" this is where you can add dynamic content to your site. So if you wish to add a guestbook to your site then tick "Guestbook" in the "Special Pages" section and click the ">" button to push it into your "Your Site Structure" section. Now your site will have a Guestbook. We told you it was easy!

  6. Click "Next"

  7. STEP 4 - On this next stage you can now click through the various pages you have added to the "Your Site Structure" section previously.

Each page you click on, you will see a WYSIWYG editor for that page which allows you to type in text and truly customise the content. Although this is the Wizard, you will be able to come back to this section at any time by logging back into SiteBuilder with your Unique ID.

  8. Click "Next"

  9. STEP 5 - So now your site is ready to publish. You do not have to publish yet though. You can continue tweaking it until it is perfect, then you can publish it. You can view a preview of the site even before you publish by clicking the "PREVIEW" button. If you have not yet purchased a hosting plan then click to send the ID details to your email address. Then you can enter these details as you go through the signup wizard later. If you decide not to sign up then the site created in the Wizard will be deleted in two hours - this is to help prevent spammers abusing our system. Once your sign up - your data will be kept and ready for you whenever you need to update the site.
